Our 2016 Shiraz fills your mouth with rich red berry flavours and peppery undertones which are augmented by the maturation in small french oak. The wine is juicy, soft and velvety, with a long smooth finish.

Vintage Notes 

McLaren Vale experienced a slightly dryer than average winter and spring in 2016. A mild spring set the vines up well. Early Summer was hot and dry, while significant rain in late January - early February relieved the strain on the vines. The mild weather during the final ripening period provided ideal conditions for full flavour development, while retaining natural acidity. The vines were well balanced with great colour and flavour.

Winemaking Notes

The fruit was destemmed and crushed gently, then pumped over twice daily for 8 days. We kept the ferment cool to retain the bright primary fruit characters. Following ferment, the wine was pressed and transferred into French oak barrels (20% new) to mature for 18 months.

COLOUR
Deep red with purple hues

BOUQUET
Bright and aromatic with dark red berries, nutmeg, white pepper, subtle oak and complex barrel ferment characters showing through.

PALATE
Full flavoured, packed with red berries, a hint of plum and blackberry, complemented by dark chocolate, liquorice and black pepper. Structured and well balanced with a long, velvety finish.
