Down The Rabbit Hole 2019 Tempranillo
McLAREN VALE
WINEMAKER: WALTER CLAPPIS
Juicy black cherries with licorice & spice, followed by earthy cocoa notes are all held together with silky tannins which provide a lengthy finish. This wine keeps you coming back for more.
Vintage Notes
A wet winter and spring set the vines up for the growing season. Despite some early summer rain, disease pressure remained low. Flowering was late, leading to a late harvest, with a long and slow ripening season. Ideal conditions for concentrated flavour development and acid retention.
Winemaking Notes
Harvested on 20th February, then fermented on skins for 8 days until dry – a cool ferment to capture the brightness of fruit. Malolactic fermentation took place is tank and was then racked into seasoned oak for maturation, where it remained for 12 months.
Tasting Notes
COLOUR
Dark cherry red with plum hues
BOUQUET
Vibrant cherries and blueberries, with a hint of cinnamon
PALATE
Medium bodied, yet round and luxurious. Dark cherries and licorice follow through onto the palate with some underlying earthy tones. Smooth cocoa tannins and natural acidity provide a silky, smooth finish.
